About us · Wheelers Hill, VIC
Two dentists, one corner of Waverley Road — since 2002.
Dentist on Waverley is a small practice by choice: two dentists, a close support team, and enough time in every appointment to do things gently and explain them properly.
No. 01 · The practice
Quality care, without the run-around.
One practice for the whole family — check-ups to crowns, children to grandparents.
Everything under one roof. We take a one-stop-shop approach to quality dental care — check-ups and cleans, children's dentistry, fillings, root canals, dentures, crowns and cosmetic work, all at 861A Waverley Road, so you're not bounced between clinics every time your needs change.
Calm, caring and stress-free. That phrase isn't a slogan to us; it's the standing instruction for every appointment. If you're anxious about the dentist, say so — we'll slow down, explain each step, and stop whenever you need a moment.
Affordable, honestly. We believe in affordable dental care without compromising on quality. There are no surprise bills here: you'll have your quote in writing before treatment begins, and we'll always talk cost before we treat.
You decide, fully informed. Our job is to keep you well informed about your own teeth — what needs doing now, what can wait, and what doesn't need doing at all — so every decision is genuinely yours.
“Michael is absolutely amazing! Staff are so caring and friendly.”
No. 02 · Your dentists
The two dentists you'll actually see.
In their own words — because that's how they talk to you in the chair.
If you're nervous, tell me. We go at your pace — not mine.
Gently fixing Wheelers Hill smiles since 2002 · Melbourne University · ADA member
Dr Sawaya graduated from Melbourne University in 1996 and began his career in public-service dentistry in country Victoria in 1999, before establishing the Wheelers Hill clinic in 2002. A member of the Australian Dental Association, he's the dentist patients name most often in their reviews — usually for his patience with anyone who finds the dentist hard.
I'll always tell you when a tooth doesn't need treatment.
Five decades of dentistry, fees kept sensible · Melbourne University · ADA member
Dr Kave graduated from Melbourne University in 1974 and spent three years in Box Hill before coming to the practice on Waverley Road. Also a member of the Australian Dental Association, Dr Kave keeps his philosophy simple: give patients excellent care while keeping fees to a minimum. He's married with three children and ten grandchildren, and follows the cricket and the football.
No. 03 · The whole team
The people who remember your name.
Two dentists can't run a practice alone. Behind Michael and Barry is a small, wonderfully warm support team — including dental nurse Rachael, whom patients mention by name in their Google reviews again and again, always warmly.
The team at the front desk will help you find an appointment that suits, and they're happy to talk through health funds and costs before you book. No question is too small — if you're not sure, just call.
Staying small is the point. In a practice this size there's nowhere for anyone to be a number: the team knows your history, your family, and how you like your visits to run. Our patients come first — not as a slogan, but because there's simply no other way a two-dentist practice can work.
